Does electrolysis hurt?

There is some discomfort, but tolerance varies with each individual. For extremely sensitive areas a topical anaesthetic is available.

 

 

How do I choose a competent Electrologist?

Take as much care as you would in selecting a doctor, dentist or any other personal service provider.

Is electrolysis safe

Yes electrolysis is safe when high standards of sterilization and sanitation are practiced.

  • Single use sterile disposable needles only

  • Biologically monitored sterilization of instruments

  • Universal precautions

What to look for during your consultation?
  • A certificate of an accredited school, providing a minimum 500 hour curriculum, should be visible.

  • The office area should be private and sanitary.

  • Sterile disposable needles, disposed in a sharps container after each use

  • forceps that are sterilized in an autoclave

  • The equipment should be updated. The use of a microscope and its light source is a superior method to view the follicle over the older magnifying glass which was used in the past.  The microscope makes the insertion more comfortable for the client resulting in better and faster results.

  • Pre-sterilized disposable needles are a must-Autoclave is a must to sterilize forceps.

How long will it take?

Treatment time will vary according to individual needs. As well, cause of growth, area size, density, method of treatment and regularity of follow-ups.
